Justice Geoffrey Robertson QC* is a UN Appeal Judge who has argued many of the landmark cases in media law in international and commonwealth courts, including Goodwin v UK (the right of journalists to protect their sources); Jameel v Wall Street Journal (public interest defence in libel); AG of Singapore v Wain (contempt of court in Singapore); Berezovski v Forbes (international libel) and the Washington Post case which established testamentary privilege for war correspondents in international courts. Mr Robertson is a master of the Middle Temple; a visiting Professor at the University of London and is founder and head of Doughty Street Chambers. Soli Sorabjee, former Attorney-General for India holds several offices in organisations of national and international repute. In India, he is Vice-President of International Law Association; International Institute of Human Rights Society. In an international capacity, he is Vice-President of Commonwealth Law Association and a Member of the United Nations Human Rights Commission on Minorities; Member of the Permanent Court of Arbitration at the Hague; Member of the International Association of Constitutional Lawyers. In March 2002, Sorabjee was awarded the Padma Vibhushan for his defence of the freedom of expression and the protection of human rights. He is the author of The Emergency, Censorship and the Press in India 1975-77 (1977) and other publications. He contributes a regular fortnightly column in one of the national dailies.
